Tioman.Sun.Sand.Unwined
Having it hard to blog about my trip to Tioman. Basically, it is a real nice place to unwind and do things in 2nd gear. It was 2pm when I reached Tioman from Mersing. The 1st day was basically trying to find out more info on what to do and planning the itinerary. It was soon that boredom set in and we went to find the Rock Falls. I remembered what Kay Eng said, follow the black cable but ask for instructions because it is not that easy to find. I did and still got hollan. It was only on 2nd time which I managed to find the rock fall. Well, it's either I havnt walked to the rock fall or its really utterly disappointing. It's basically a few small rocks which cause the water to flow with turbulence.
Dinner was at the resort restaurant which steak and seafood platter was at RM30 each w/o GST and service charge. The steak was not too bad, thick(which is good) but they served mine well done when I asked for medium. But I guess, it may not be that fresh so well done may have been a better choice.
Waking up early to explore the coast line. The low tide meant that the reef was accessible by feet. We saw sea cucumber, numerous small fishes and a super defensive crab.
Departing for the snorkeling trip early morning with much anticipation. We tried snorkeling in the water in front of the resort and the current provided much resistance. Thus, we were hoping the current would be calmer at the open sea. Yes it was and the fishes were more colourful and had more variety. Snorkeling is well fun except the drinking of the salt water. I was hesitant to swim at the shallower water afraid that a eel may just spring out. I guess the fear transpired from the eel from the lobstering site and the story of the 2m eel swimming toward someone in Redang and the local had to use the flipper to kick it. Well, luckily no eel spring out. I mus comment it's quite fascinating swimming just above the reef. Someone saw a shark and the guide saw a giant grouper. No such luck for me this time.
Rami burger to lunch!! The dessert was topped off with Lim Chi Kang. Neither Shi nor I have heard of it but we decided to give it a try. Well, I guess it does have slight resemblance to cheng ting with peanuts.
The evening was spend canoeing but the chompy water restricted the area safe for canoeing. The slow walk along the beach picking up sea shells soon signaled the dusk.
Dinner back the same place we had lunch. This time, we ordered Pattaya Fried Rice, Fried Maggi and stingray. The food served here is rather good and the stingray is only RM7. The chilli sauce served with the stingray tasted very good with the fried rice.
Chilling with a can of beer, (a diuretic agent which I hoped can help excrete more urine after drinking so much sea water) by the beach looking at the stars and hearing the waves. Seeing the chilled lifestyle of the local. Damn shiok la.
The last morning there was reserved to explore the island north of Paya Beach, which required walking across a delta and getting your feet wet. The island has interesting rock formation. A rock which resembled a fallen orc, another which resembled a head of the turtle pointing north east. More courageous tourists can explore the small forest on the island.
