Was it a rat in the cupboard? I asked myself when I experienced the 1st tremor. I suppose the 1st tremor has been rather neligible when it reached my estate, it seemed the only thing which shook was the cupboard which is not that level. My 1st thought was could it be a rat which caused the cupboard to move a bit? On 2nd thought, the chance of having a rat in the house is almost nil. Brushing the vibration aside, I went back to my routine and it was only via CNA which I learnt that it was the earthquake in Indonesia which caused the tremor.
Running through my mind was that what should I do if an earthquake really happened? Grab lots of water and food and run down? Just in case I kana stuck inside collapsed building then still hv water and food to survive. Watched the WTC movie and felt 1 of the worst thing to do is to go without water and food. But pondering deeper, if the earthquake is really bad then probably the SCDF and SAF would also be hit. Unlike other countries where rescue heroes can be activated from other states or cities, earthquake in a small Singapore would probably meant SCDF and SAF may not remain operational?
The 2nd tremor was much worse, I could really feel the pillars shaking a bit and for quite a while. This is I asked myself, really if kana earthquake what should I do?
I suppose after the lesson of tsunami, maybe we should be educated on natural disasters which haven't happened in Singapore. Often the unknown is the scaring one and given the small proximity of Singapore, we have to minimise the impact of any natural disaster.
