"Hei, hving class outing this sat. Goin Pulau Ubin to cycle. Meeting at Pasir Ris MRT at 9am."
I suppose it had been quite some time since all of us went to Ubin, maybe except for CCC.The amount of bicycles for rental were overwhelming. The crowd was also quite overwhelming. In the midst of the confusion, we were attracted to the sign which says $2 for a day. $2 to rent a bike for a day?
"These are new bikes. $8 for the day." The bikes were new and cool but we were thinking hmm...the price varied by quite a bit..See see 1st la. We went to a shop which were renting $3 for the day. The bikes were rather old but the price difference was quite a figure so decided to go easy on the money and hard on our legs. We first headed east and saw quite some kampung houses and it gave us the feeling of heading back into my parents' time. However, there aint any chickens roaming around, just kampung houses.
The bikes were quite ok except that it seem to require rather Armstrong-like leg power to paddle the bicycle up the hill. Hence, we were pushing the bike 1/2 the time when going uphill. Everything which go up must come down, hence after the hard work, the acceleration downhill makes the hard work worth doing.
By 3plus, we covered most of the island's main routes and have to say, its quite worth the effort especially some of the sea view. Nice place to have a mini pinic and maybe watch sunset. It will be nicer if more parts of the island are opened up though.
