It has been quite some time since I last went for a swim. Hence, I decided to go for a short swim yesterday evening. Went all the way to SAFRA(Mount Faber) and to my dismay the swimming pool was closed. Diao...A bus I took and landed up in Queentown MRT. A map in the station showed a swimming pool a few hundred metres from the train station. Hence decided to walk there. The short walk was like walking into the past. The houses on Stirling Road seems to brought a prelude into the 1970s. Very soon I reached the swimming pool. Queentown swimming pool is old! The whole place looks like a scene from 1960s. Flats surrounding the pool are also old. The only time I can remember seeing such a surrounding is on black and white TV where CNA touches on Singapore growth from a 3rd world country to a quite developed country. I am not saying the swimming pool is lousy. In fact it was a pleasant experience to feel what it is like walking into the past into a time when my parents were still young. It was like colour was added into black & white. The 1970s have always fantasized me and this perhaps is the closest I have been to.
